Old Motors Club Malta completes memorable road tour through Southern Italy

Members of the Old Motors Club Malta have just returned from yet another unforgettable adventure abroad — one that pushed new boundaries as they took their classic cars onto Italian soil for the first time.

A convoy of 29 vintage vehicles, representing German, Italian, Japanese, and British marques, along with 62 adults and 3 children, set off on their journey on 24th April. Travelling from Pozzallo to Messina, the group crossed into mainland Italy at Villa San Giovanni in Reggio Calabria, where they spent their first night.

Over the following days, the participants explored several scenic and historic destinations. Highlights included visits to Scilla, Bagnara Calabra, and a three-night stay in the charming town of Tropea. The tour also took them through Gioia Tauro, Palmi, the fascinating Zungri Caves, and the picturesque town of Pizzo. On the evening of 28th April, the group returned to Sicily via Messina, and by the morning of 29th April, they began their journey home through Pozzallo. In total, the tour spanned approximately 1,000 kilometres (600 miles).

The event’s success was a testament to the spirit and collaboration within the club. Special thanks go to Rita Suban, Dennis Agius, and Michael and Maria Xuereb, whose meticulous planning and tireless efforts ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all involved.

Buoyed by the triumph of this journey, the organisers are already contemplating a second tour, possibly later this year — and anticipation among members is already building.
