JKA Malta left a strong impression at the 27th JKA European Championships held last month in Prague, Czech Republic. The event, hosted by JKA Czech Republic, brought together top karateka from across Europe, showcasing elite talent, discipline, and the true spirit of traditional karate.
Three senior athletes represented JKA Malta on this prestigious stage: Liane Chircop, Nicole Chircop, and Matthew Bezzina. All delivered commendable performances in both kata and kumite, proudly upholding Malta’s presence in international competition.
Liane Chircop achieved a Top 16 placement in the kata category, demonstrating precision and control in a highly competitive field. She also showed strong form in kumite, both individually and as part of the team alongside Nicole Chircop and Graziella Rocco.
Nicole Chircop matched her teammate’s result, also finishing in the Top 16 in kata. She contributed significantly to the team kumite performance, working in harmony with Liane Chircop and Graziella Rocco to deliver solid rounds in their category.
On the men’s side, Matthew Bezzina secured a Top 32 finish in kata and impressed with his fighting spirit during kumite bouts. He competed in both individual and team kumite, where he was joined by teammates Paul Falzon and Yanes Nocilla in putting forth a determined team effort.
