Jesmar Gafa was the Maltese driver chosen by the Malta Horse Racing Club to participate in the Coupe Intercontinentale des Amateurs; the international race, which brought together 14 amateur drivers from all over Europe. Continuing the tradition of bringing together representatives from many countries with which it collaborates, the French Association organized this annual event as part of the special racing weekend leading up to the Prix d’Amérique.
Gafa delivered a standout performance aboard horse number 10 GUEPARD GRIFF, securing a well-earned second place in a highly competitive race. After a strong start from the second row behind the autostart, he positioned his horse behind the runners on the outside lane following with ease.
As the race approached the final 700 metres, Gafa urged GUEPARD GRIFF to accelerate, launching a bold attack for the lead. In the sprint to the finish, GUEPARD GRIFF held strong, eventually taking second place after a disqualification of a horse in the front ranks. The victory went to Germany’s Sarah Kube aboard GIZMOGOLD, while Italy’s Matteo Zaccherini claimed third place with HUNADORA.
This result marks a significant achievement for Jesmar Gafa, both personally and for Malta, as his second-place finish is the best by a Maltese driver in this prestigious international competition.
