The Malta Football Association has paid tribute to former women’s national team player Alishia Cassar, presenting her with a commemorative shirt in recognition of her retirement and outstanding contribution to the sport.
The honour was conferred by MFA President Bjorn Vassallo, who presented Cassar with the special memento during a formal gesture of appreciation for her commitment and service to Maltese football.
Cassar, who was previously known as Alishia Sultana, earned 61 caps for the Malta Women’s National Team. Throughout her international career, she was known for her unwavering determination, consistency, and passion — qualities that made her a reliable presence in the squad and a role model for younger players.
Described by the MFA as “a true Red,” Cassar proudly represented her country every time she stepped onto the pitch, giving her all in both competitive matches and friendlies. Her contributions helped elevate the women’s game in Malta and set a high standard for professionalism and dedication.
“Alishia’s journey with the national team is one filled with pride and commitment,” said President Vassallo. “We are grateful for her years of service and the inspiration she has provided to the next generation of players.”
As she closes this chapter of her football journey, the Malta FA and local football community extend their heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Alishia Cassar for a career marked by integrity, resilience, and pride in wearing the Maltese badge.
