Manolito Micallef was inspirational for Floriana Veterans as they saw off Hibernians with a mammoth 8-0 scoreline in a VMFA Cisk Premier League game.
Micallef scored four goals with Glenn Bonello, Brian Said, Emerson Amaira and an own goal that sealed Furian’s dominance.
With this victory, Floriana remained in first place in the table and have a two-point advantage over their closest rivals Gzira United Veterans.
Gzira United Veterans kept up the pace in the upper part of the table after a good 4-2 win against Zejtun Red Stars. The Maroons were losing 1-0 but they knew how to turn the result in their favour to take three important points.
Justin Grioli was the star for Gżira when he scored a hat-trick while Daniel Mariano Bueno secured the victory for his team with another goal.
Żejtun Red Stars had Charlo Magro netting a personal brace.
In third place is Birkirkara St Helen’s who beat Rabat Veterans 7-3.
As the score indicates, it was a game full of goals and offensive actions from both sides although the Stripes had something better than their opponents.
Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza and Christian Caruana scored two goals each with Firas Aboulezz, Ayrton Buhagiar and Federico Marine adding the score for their team.
Rabat had Adam Smeir, Timothy Zammit and Gilbert Camilleri who found the net.
Champions MFPA are improving game after game after beating Żurrieq Wolves 5-2.
Mark Barbara scored three goals for Malta Football Players Association while Alexander Ribic and George Frendo added the score for their team.
Mario Camilleri and Kevin Vella scored the goals for the Wolves.
