Pro Recco narrowly lost 15–14 in Budapest in a spectacular showdown, relinquishing the title to European champions Ferencváros, who claimed the sixth European Super Cup in their history.
At the Komjádi Pool, Sandro Sukno’s side played an excellent final, constantly fighting back after falling 4–1 behind early on.
Buric and Granados led the light-blue attack as Pro Recco mounted a comeback, reaching a thrilling 12–11 lead thanks to Cassia’s goal.
However, the unstoppable Fekete (named MVP with four goals) and the brilliant Mandic, supported by the unmarkable Manhercz (who also scored four times), turned the match around in the final stages — with Vamos sealing the winning goal just one minute from the end.
