Malta Women’s National Water Polo Team began their campaign in the European Women’s Championships Qualification Group B with two challenging fixtures held in Hannover, Germany.

Germany 14–2 Malta
In their opening match, Malta faced host nation Germany, a formidable side in European water polo. Despite the uphill task, Malta fought hard throughout the four quarters.
Germany dominated the encounter, ultimately winning 14–2. However, Malta’s Elena Borg stood out, netting both goals for her side and showing glimpses of attacking promise. It was a tough learning curve for the Maltese team, who showed resilience and character against a technically superior opponent.

Malta will return to action on Saturday, June 7 at 19:00, where they will take on Turkey in their second qualifier. The encounter offers the Maltese squad an opportunity to bounce back and aim for their first points in Group B.
