Sliema ASC dominate National Short Course Championships

Sliema Aquatic Sports Club emerged victorious at the COOP Services National Short Course Championships 2025/26, delivering an outstanding performance despite competing with a squad of just 49 swimmers.

Across the three-day championships, Sliema ASC demonstrated consistency, depth and resilience, amassing an impressive haul of 31 gold medals. The campaign was further highlighted by a series of record-breaking swims and numerous personal best performances throughout the squad.

Several members of the club’s elite squad made history during the championships. Sasha Gatt set a new national record in the 400m freestyle, posting a time of 4:10.92. Matthew Satariano also rewrote the record books, clocking 4:20.56 to establish a new national mark in the 400m individual medley. Meanwhile, Sophia Allen broke the Age Group D record in the same event, finishing in 5:04.19.

The success comes just months after the introduction of a new coaching structure at the club, underlining the immediate impact of the revamped setup. The results reflect Sliema ASC’s continued commitment to high-performance swimming and the development of elite talent at the national level.

Sliema ASC extended its congratulations to all swimmers, coaches and supporters who contributed to a memorable and record-breaking championship campaign. The club also expressed its appreciation to sponsors Panta Ltd for their continued support throughout the season.
