On Sunday, the 24th of December, Island Car Club organised the 7th round of the National Hillclimb Championship at the scenic hill of Bahrija.
This round was a battleground for the drivers, each fighting tooth and nail for points to win their class, with only one round left in the 2024 season.
The overall winner of the 7th round was Mark Micallef, a seasoned driver known for his skill and precision, with his V8 Radical in 1st place. Christian Azzopardi, a seasoned tuner and drag racer is a rising star in the Hillclimb community, and Terence Vella, a veteran driver with a wealth of experience, followed closely behind.
The fastest in classes were, Rear Whell Drive Class – Joseph Cutajar, Front Wheel Drive Class – Gabriel Sammut, Four Wheel Drive Class – Joseph Calleja, Classic Cars Class – Isaac Burlo, Street Class – Joseph Calleja, Female Driver – Graziella Zahra Micallef, Drivers over the age of 60 – Silvio Sciberras, Drivers under the age of 25 – Calvin Lee Mifsud, Guest Class – Charles Cutajar.
So, although there was the possibility that during round 7, the overall championship would have been closed mathematically, it didn’t happen. So, it is all up until the 8th and final round of the championship, and the wait is not long as this is happening next Sunday, the 1st of December at Mtahleb.
