Qormi Daikin hand first defeat to Floriana Young Stars

Qormi Daikin handed the first defeat to leaders Trust Floriana Young Stars as they beat them 2-1 in the most anticipated game of the weekend from the national hockey championship.

The Yellow/Blacks were a determined lot with Floriana who were aggressive but not so accurate in front of goal.

This was the second time in less than a week that these two sides were meeting after the victory of Qormi Daikin in the Super Cup with the score of 3-1.

For their part, Floriana wanted a point to mathematically become champions and now they have to wait for another week to try to achieve this milestone.

It was the Greens who came out well in the first quarter and went on top through Mark Camilleri.

Qormi tied the score in the second quarter through John Williams so that the second quarter ended 1-1.

After no goal was scored in the third quarter, the team led by Andre Ghio scored the winning goal thanks to John Williams who thus completed a personal double.

Umpires were Alessandro Amore and Glen Bonello.

GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks were given a 2-0 walk-over against White Hart so they continued to hope that they could win the title.

From the under-12 league, De La Salle Floriana beat GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks 1-0 while Qormi Daikin played against Marsaskala Summer Nights A and won 14-1.
