Liam Sciberras claimed victory at the first Skeet Selection Shoot of the season, held at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Siggiewi, after delivering consistent performances in both qualification and final stages.
Sciberras topped the qualification round with a score of 115 out of 125 before maintaining his level in the finals, where he recorded 47 out of 60 to secure first place overall. His performance set the early benchmark in the selection series organised under the Malta Shooting Sport Federation calendar.
Clive Farrugia finished second after leading the qualification phase with 117 out of 125. He followed this with a score of 46 out of 60 in the final stages, narrowly missing out on victory. Andre Cassar completed the podium in third place, posting scores of 112 out of 125 in qualification and 37 out of 50 in the final.
In Class B, Mikaela Galea recorded a score of 97 out of 125, marking her participation in the opening event of the season.
The competition took place at the Malta National Shooting Ranges in Siggiewi, which will also host the next event on the Malta Shooting Sport Federation calendar. The second Skeet Selection Shoot of the 2026 season is scheduled for 7 and 8 February, with athletes continuing their efforts to earn selection points early in the year.
