David Azzopardi has been elected Deputy President of the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) following an Extraordinary General Meeting attended by the Committee’s affiliated member federations. The election was held in full compliance with the Maltese Olympic Committee’s Statute and Electoral Regulations.
The contest for the Deputy President role featured three candidates: David Azzopardi, Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace, and Dr John Vella. Azzopardi received 35 votes, securing the position for the remainder of the current Olympic quadrennial. Dr Micallef Stafrace obtained 25 votes, while Dr Vella received 6 votes.
Commenting on the outcome, the Maltese Olympic Committee thanked all candidates for their participation, acknowledging their willingness to dedicate time, experience, and commitment to the advancement of sport in Malta. The Committee highlighted the importance of such contributions in supporting the continued growth and development of the Maltese sporting community.
David Azzopardi’s election as Deputy President marks a new chapter for the MOC as it continues its mission to support athletes, foster sporting excellence, and strengthen Malta’s presence in the international Olympic movement.
