Valentino Rossi officially ended his career as a MotoGP rider today.
The race in Valencia was the last for the Doctor who did not hide his emotions. Before the start of the race, we saw the tears of the Italians on the starting finish line, after the last time he “talked” to his Yamaha
Everything today is in the sign of the number 46 that Rossi wore throughout his career. The winner of today’s race was the driver of the factory team of Ducati, Francesco Bagnaia, a student of the “VR46” driver’s academy.
As a tribute to his mentor, Valentino Rossi, Bagnaia wore a helmet with the number 46 today, and thus further organized his victory.
Today’s race did not decide the champions, because previously Fabio Quartararo and Ducati won titles in the competition of drivers, ie teams.
After the race, all the drivers parked next to the first bend and took a seat with the greatest motorcyclist of all time.
Motorcycling today would not be at that level if it were not for the Doctor when generations of riders grew up. We all knew that the last race had to come one day, but as much as you know something, you can never be prepared for something like that.
After 432 Grand Prix, 115 victories, and nine world titles in all three classes, and 26 years of racing, Valentino Rossi parked his motorcycle for all time.
Although he won his last title in 2009, we have seen several spectacular battles on the track in the last decade. Primarily with Jorge Lorenzo and Marco Marquez.
The entire racing weekend was dedicated to Valentino Rossi, and with good reason. For the first time, Honda parked the motorcycles with which the Doctor won titles from its garage, numerous world personalities sent their greetings to Russia, and over 150,000 spectators sent the legend to retire on the track.
From next season, Valentino Rossi will have his team in the strongest class, and two Ducats will be driven by Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchii.
What can make all fans of the Doctor happy is the fact that he personally announced that he will not stop racing. It is almost certain that he will try his hand at racing on all four wheels, the only question left is in which championship.
Michael Jordan did not create basketball, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did not create football, Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna did not create Formula 1, but Valentino Rossi did create MotogGP.
Motorcycling today would not be at that level if it were not for the Doctor when generations of riders grew up. We all knew that the last race had to come one day, but as much as you know something, you can never be prepared for something like that.
The surgery is officially closed today. Thanks, Vale.
