Formula 1 could be heading to Thailand in the near future. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali recently met with Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, to discuss plans for a race in Bangkok.
Thailand has been eager to host an F1 event and has a connection to the current grid through Alex Albon, who races under a Thai licence.
With 24 races already scheduled for 2025, new venues may be added through a rotation system, similar to Belgium, which will host races in four out of the next six seasons.
If successful, the Bangkok Grand Prix would likely be a street race in the heart of the capital.
Domenicali said:
“I was delighted to meet with the Prime Minister and her team today to discuss their exciting plans for a race in Bangkok. I look forward to continuing our discussions in the coming months.”
Formula 1’s popularity continues to grow, with other new venues also expressing interest. Madrid will join the calendar next year as the new Spanish Grand Prix host, while discussions about bringing F1 back to Africa are ongoing, with Rwanda formally registering its interest.
