Hamilton: We are not fast enough

Seven-time Formula 1 champion and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finished second at the French Grand Prix but is still unhappy with the car.

He believes that Red Bull has a much faster car.

“Max was very fast after the start, I could stay behind him for a maximum of two laps, no more,” explained Hamilton.

This is especially evident on the routes.

“On the straight, I go full speed, and he continues to run away from me. That’s our biggest weakness – we’re not fast enough on the straights, we lose between three and four tenths of a second and we can’t do anything there.”

Mercedes’ second and third place is the team’s best overall result this season, although Lewis admitted that they did not count on such good placings before the race.

“We have taken a big step forward and I hope that we will be even closer to the fastest teams in Budapest, in order to make the race even more interesting”, said the Mercedes driver.
