Tarxien Rainbows are closing in on the signing of Nigerian wide forward Ofufu Ibeh, who arrived in Malta on Thursday and whose medical tests were scheduled for Friday. If all proceeds as expected, he could be cleared in time to come into contention for Matchday Three and, pending formalities, would become the club’s thirteenth foreign addition of this transfer window.
Ibeh is a left-sided winger who can also operate as a central striker. He is known for direct running, fast pace and a strong physique, attributes that allow him to attack full-backs one-on-one and stretch defences in transition. That versatility would give Tarxien both a natural wide outlet and a mobile option through the middle.
The move follows the 1–0 defeat to Floriana, after which head coach Jacques Scerri hinted that the squad needed to review what went wrong and suggested that reinforcement might be required. In that context, Ibeh could become an important piece for Scerri’s plans, offering depth on the flanks and the ability to lead the line when needed, with the speed and power to change the tempo of matches.
Ibeh arrived with recent minutes in Asia with Phnom Penh Crown in the Cambodian Premier League and previously featured in Maltese football with Fgura United in the Challenge League. Earlier stages of his career included spells in Portugal and Greece, experiences that should aid a quick adaptation to the demands of top-flight football in Malta.
Should the registration be completed without issues, Tarxien will add a versatile forward option to sharpen competition for places and give the coaching staff another profile for both starting roles and late-game impact.
