The Malta Premier League has established a Solidarity Fund through which part of the revenue generated by top division clubs will be distributed to clubs competing in the lower tiers of Maltese football. The initiative aims to strengthen the overall domestic football structure and provide additional support to clubs outside the top flight.
Premier League clubs have agreed to allocate a total of €150,000 for this purpose. The funds will be drawn directly from the clubs’ own income and not from UEFA allocations, underlining the league’s commitment to solidarity within the local game.
The €150,000 will be distributed across the divisions as follows: 45 per cent will go to clubs competing in the Challenge League, 33 per cent will be allocated to clubs in the National Amateur League I, and the remaining 22 per cent will be distributed among clubs in the National Amateur League II.

This decision reflects the Malta Premier League’s willingness to engage in genuine dialogue and cooperation across all levels of Maltese football, despite there being no formal obligation to implement such a scheme.
The distribution of funds to clubs in the National Amateur League I and II has been carried out in full compliance with all applicable regulations. The MPL also took into consideration feedback received following the allocation of similar funds last year and held discussions with the Malta Football Association before finalising the framework.
Overall, the initiative forms part of the Malta Premier League’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and support the wider football ecosystem in Malta.
