Ħamrun Spartans are on the verge of signing 26-year-old Italian defender Vincenzo Polito, who has been training with the squad during their camp in the Calabria region and left a positive impression on coach Giacomo Modica.
Polito brings with him a wealth of experience from Italian football, having started his youth career at Juve Stabia and Frattese before moving to Castelvetro. He later joined ACR Messina and went on to play for clubs such as Gela, Cavese, and Casertana.
His journey continued with Monterosi, Viterbese, Potenza, and another spell at ACR Messina. Most recently, he featured for SPAL and Lecco during the 2024/25 season.
This will be another step for Modica to complete his squad before facing Zalgiris of Lithuania on the 9th July for the 1st Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League, with the first match being played in Lithuania.
