After the defeat against Real Madrid (3:1), Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was disappointed.
“We are returning empty-handed. We didn’t take advantage of our moments of good play. We don’t like this dynamic of the matches, something has to change. I can’t be satisfied with anything when we lost 3:1. The only positive thing is that those who were left out, played later with enthusiasm, trying to fix the situation,” said Xavi.
He believes that the draw against Inter in the Champions League (3:3) did not affect the outcome of today’s match.
“I don’t believe that match had an impact. Without playing great, it could have been 1:1 or 2:2, but when we don’t take chances, things like this happen at the Bernabeu. We weren’t bad in the first half, but if we want to win matches like this, we have to change our mentality. First of all, we have to reduce mistakes. I’m not pointing fingers at the players, I’m the captain of the ship and I accept that I make mistakes too. However, Real does not make that many of them. It is clear, we are a team in the process of construction, but we have to mature in order to play at this level”, concluded the Barcelona coach.
