Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his impressions after the victory over Real Madrid (2:1), in this year’s third El Clasico.
Xavi believes that his team was better in this derby.
“We dominated and created more chances. I leave happy. The team is exhausted from a lot of work in defense and attack. This is a very important victory for us. We controlled the game. We knew how to get out of difficult situations. The goal we conceded was the result of our conceptual error. I think we were better overall,” said Xavi.
He also commented on the event from the 81st minute, when Real’s goal, or rather Asensio’s, was disallowed due to offside.
“It was a clear offside. I was surprised by Ancelotti’s words, who says that there was no offside. The result is fair and that’s why I like VAR. Without it, everything is much more difficult, and with it, the result is fairer,” added the Barcelona coach.
The Catalans will play their next match in La Liga against Elche. This match is scheduled for April 1st, and a few days later, they will again face Real Madrid, in the second leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final.
