Maltese goalkeeper Raisa Costantino has officially signed for Venezia Calcio 1985, continuing her steady rise in Italian football. The club confirmed the news on its official Facebook page, adding the 20-year-old to their Serie C squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Costantino began her senior football journey in 2020 with Kirkop United in Malta. Her debut was particularly memorable as she came on to replace her mother, Sharon Costantino, a former Malta national team goalkeeper, in what was her farewell match. In 2022, Raisa made the switch to Hibernians FC, where she gained regular first-team experience and further developed her skills.
In the summer of 2023, she made her first move abroad by joining SPD Tharros in Italy’s Serie C. She played consistently throughout the 2023–24 season, adapting well to the demands of the Italian game. Her performances caught further attention, and she went on to sign for Gelbison Women the following year, continuing her career in Italy’s third tier.
Costantino has also been involved with the Malta national teams at various levels. She has represented Malta in the UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifiers and was later called up to the senior national team. In October 2024, she featured as a second-half substitute in a high-profile friendly against Italy, marking another important step in her international career.
Now, as she begins a new chapter with Venezia Calcio 1985, Costantino is expected to compete for the starting goalkeeper role. The club has expressed confidence in her abilities, and her experience in Maltese and Italian football positions her well for the challenges ahead. Her shot-stopping skills, calm presence, and maturity on the field continue to earn praise from coaches and teammates alike.
