Malta’s top striker, Haley Bugeja, has signed a new four-year contract with Italian Serie A side Inter Milan, securing her place at the club until June 2029.
The 21-year-old is seen as an important part of Inter’s plans for the future. The club is investing in young, talented players, and Bugeja’s strong performances have earned her this extended deal.
Bugeja began her football journey with Mġarr United, where she quickly gained attention for her goal-scoring ability. Her talent led to a move to Sassuolo in Italy’s top women’s league, where she scored 15 goals in 30 appearances.
In 2022, she made the switch to the United States, joining Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League. However, her time in America was challenging, and she struggled for regular playing time.
A year later, in 2023, Bugeja returned to Italy to join Inter Milan. Since then, she has made 32 appearances for the club, scoring four goals. Last season, after a slow start, she ended the campaign in great form, scoring a memorable winner against Juventus on the final day of the season.

On the international stage, Bugeja has made 40 appearances for the Malta women’s national team, scoring 24 goals. She is now just two goals behind Dorianne Theuma’s national record of 26 goals.
This new contract reflects Inter’s trust in Bugeja’s talent and growth, and marks a major step in her promising football career.
