Floriana continue their European journey on Tuesday night as they travel to face Ballkani, a strong side from Kosovo, in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
Ballkani are no strangers to European competition. They have reached the group stages of the UEFA Conference League in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
Ballkani are also familiar with Maltese football. Just last season, they knocked out Ħamrun Spartans in the same competition. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Kosovo, they travelled to Malta and came away with a 2-0 win at the Tony Bezzina Stadium to book their spot in the third round.
Last season, Ballkani finished second in the Kosovo league, just behind champions FC Drita.
Despite the challenge, even with some new faces added to the team, Floriana have shown resilience and determination in Europe. In their ties against Haverfordwest, they twice came from behind to win, proving they can dig deep when it matters most.
Floriana will be under no illusions about the size of the task in Kosovo, but they’ll be hoping their spirit and momentum can carry them through another round in this European campaign.
