Preston beat Huddersfield 3:1 at home and advanced to the fourth round, while Reading, as the host, beat Watford 2:0.
The match between Forest Green and Birmingham has been postponed due to the flooded pitch of the third-division club.
During the day, 22 games of the third round of the FA Cup are played, and at that stage clubs from the two strongest English leagues join the competition.
