TUCHEL DEFENDS KEPA: Blame me, it was my decision!

Chelsea was defeated in the League Cup final by Liverpool after taking a penalty. The tragedian for “Blues” was Kepa, who missed the last penalty, and Thomas Tuchel defended his goalkeeper!

The players of both teams gave us a real, attractive match. There were chances on both sides, but there were no goals. The goalkeepers in this match are also brilliant, Mendy for Chelsea and Kelleher for Liverpool.

It was the change of goalkeeper that the strategist of the team from London decided on that surprised many. In the 118th minute, Kepa entered the game instead of Mendi, who, as always, was up to the task.

The Spanish goalkeeper is known as a penalty specialist, but this time he was not so lucky.

Both teams scored 10 penalties, and in the 11th series, it was the goalkeepers’ turn. Kelleher was precise, while his colleague from the ranks of the opponents sent the ball “to the sky under the clouds” and thus brought Liverpool the first trophy of this season.

Many have resented Kepa for who knows how many times, but he was defended by the Chelsea coach.

It was as it was. No one should blame Kepa, blame me. I made the decision… Sometimes the changes turn out to be good, sometimes not. That’s how it is in football – said Tuchel, and continued.

– It’s hard, I’m sorry, but I don’t blame him. We made the decision because Kepa practices taking penalties every day with the players, we all know how good he is. Unfortunately, he did not manage to defend any of their attempts, they performed penalties perfectly. It was difficult for him, but no one should blame him – the coach of “Blues” added.

As he himself says, he will not regret much about the defeat in the final.

– We should not regret anything, I am proud of how the team played. There were a lot of good things and I told the guys not to lose sleep because of this. It was an interesting football match, I am happy that we were a part of it – Tuchel concluded.
