STEFAN MITROVIC: We got chills while we were waiting for VAR

Red Star footballer Stefan Mitrovic was on the field in the 77th minute in the defeat to Manchester City at the start of Group G of the Champions League.

The red and whites took the lead with a goal by Bukari in the 45th minute, but they failed to preserve that advantage at the Etihad.

“We expected Manchester City to be the way it was. We fought, we did our best. In the first half, we had hope that we could hold on, but I am very sorry that we conceded a goal in the first minute of the second half. Afterwards we fell, and they got up. It was very difficult. We know that they are the strongest team in the world, but we saw that we can and we will get some positive things out when we return to Belgrade.” Mitrovic said.

He also revealed how he felt when the VAR decision on the regularity of Osman Bukari’s goal was awaited.

“I immediately thought it was a goal, because I saw that Bukari was behind the player. We got chills while waiting for that VAR. We were lucky that the goal was conceded and we were shocked when we took the lead. To lead against City at the Etihad, unreal.” Mitrović revealed.
