SHAQIRI, THE HIGHEST-PAID IN THE MLS LEAGUE: Insigne in second place

Chicago Fire soccer player Xherdan Shaqiri is still the highest paid player in the American Soccer League, it was announced by the MLS Soccer Players Association.

Shaqiri arrived in Chicago ahead of the 2022 season and has a base salary of $7.35 million, with bonuses totaling $8,153,000, according to data from the MLS Players Association.

The Swiss representative is the highest paid soccer player in America for the second year in a row.

Toronto forward Lorenzo Insinje is second with $7.5 million, while Los Angeles Galaxy player Javier Hernandez is third with $7.4 million.

Toronto surpassed Atlanta as the team with the largest payroll at $25.7 million, followed by the LA Galaxy at $23.5 million. Montreal has the smallest payroll and it amounts to 10.5 million dollars.

The Association of Football Players stated that the average salary in the league increased by 3.1 percent, to 473,292 dollars.
