Parma beat Fiorentina 1-0 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini, picking up their fourth win in seven matches in all competitions. The result moved them five points clear of the relegation zone for now.
Both teams started slowly, as expected after difficult seasons. Parma had the best chance of the first half just before the break when Jacob Ondrejka’s shot went narrowly wide after a rebound. The half ended goalless.
Parma took the lead early in the second half. Mateo Pellegrino’s mis-hit shot fell to Oliver Sørensen, who scored his first goal of the season.
Fiorentina tried to get back into the game. Moise Kean went close after a strong solo run, but his finish was weak. Nicolò Fortini then had a shot blocked. Their best chance came when Albert Guðmundsson crossed for Roberto Piccoli, but he missed from close range.
Guðmundsson later tested the Parma goalkeeper with a long-range effort, but Fiorentina could not find an equaliser and suffered another disappointing defeat.
The win was Parma’s third in five league games and gave them confidence in their fight to stay up. Fiorentina remain in trouble, with time running out in a difficult season.
