Napoli face Juventus to remain leaders

As Serie A leaders Napoli gear up for their next big challenge, the Partenopei are riding high after a statement victory over Atalanta last week. The 3-2 triumph in Bergamo kept them three points clear of defending champions Inter at the top of the table, marking their best league run since February 2023.

Antonio Conte’s men have silenced any doubts about their squad depth following the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. With defender Alessandro Buongiorno reportedly set to return from injury, Napoli are poised to continue their title charge on home turf, where they’ve accumulated a joint-league high of 24 home points (W8, D2).

Next up, Juventus come to town. Despite sitting 13 points adrift of Napoli, Thiago Motta’s men are focused on securing a top-four finish. They impressed with a 2-0 win over AC Milan last week but reverted to old habits midweek with a goalless draw against Club Brugge, a match that featured just one shot on target from either side.

Remarkably, Juventus have drawn seven of their last eight away games across all competitions (W1). While they may not be the most entertaining team to watch, the Old Lady are tough to beat on the road, with their last such defeat dating back to April against Lazio. The reverse fixture between these sides ended 0-0 in Turin in September.

Players to watch: Keep an eye on Napoli’s Scott McTominay, who has already netted five league goals, four of which came before the break. For Juventus, Timothy Weah, also with five Serie A goals this season, scored his first beyond the hour mark against Milan.

Hot stat: Just two of Napoli’s 12 home matches this season have seen both teams on the scoresheet.

With Napoli determined to maintain their lead and Juventus aiming to close the gap, this clash promises to be an exciting encounter in the Italian top flight.
