Milan, under Sergio Conceição, returned to winning ways in Serie A with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory away to Lecce, overturning a 0-2 deficit in just 13 minutes. At the Via del Mare, the Rossoneri endured a nightmare start, conceding early to Krstovic in the 7th minute before the Montenegrin forward doubled Lecce’s lead in the 59th minute.
In between, both Gimenez and Gabbia had goals ruled out for offside, while each side struck the woodwork. However, Milan’s revival was ignited by Gallo’s own goal (68’), before Christian Pulisic took centre stage—winning and converting a penalty (73′) before netting the winner from a Leão assist (81′).
Lecce vs Milan at the Via del Mare is never an ordinary fixture. Recent clashes have been full of goals, dramatic comebacks, and counter-comebacks. This encounter was no exception. With Milan in crisis mode after three consecutive league defeats and trailing by two goals after an hour, they dug deep to stage an impressive fightback, aided by Gallo’s unfortunate own goal and Pulisic’s brilliance. The result doesn’t erase all of Milan’s problems, but it offers Conceição’s side a much-needed morale boost.
Lecce, much like Milan, displayed both their strengths and weaknesses this season. For an hour, they executed their game plan perfectly—absorbing Milan’s possession-based play and striking efficiently on the counter. Both of Krstovic’s goals came from swift, two-touch transitions, exposing Milan’s fragile defensive structure. The Rossoneri, despite their positive approach and early disallowed goal for Gimenez, conceded far too easily, a recurring issue in recent matches.
The second half followed a similar pattern—disallowed goals, missed chances, and another counterattack masterclass from Lecce leading to Krstovic’s second goal. Milan, however, found a way back. Conceição rolled the dice tactically, introducing Joao Felix and Abraham, then Sottil after levelling the score. As Lecce’s energy levels dropped, Rafael Leão’s bursts down the left became increasingly dangerous. His driven cross in the 68th minute forced Gallo’s own goal, sparking Milan’s revival.
From there, it was Pulisic’s moment to shine. Five minutes after the own goal, the American winger won and converted a penalty, bringing Milan level. Eight minutes later, he completed the comeback, clinically finishing from another Leão delivery to secure all three points.
A stunning turnaround that keeps Milan’s European hopes alive while deepening Lecce’s struggles.
