Inter and Bologna share the spoils

Bologna fought hard to earn a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, denying Inter Milan the chance to close the gap on Serie A leaders SSC Napoli.

Nikola Moro started strongly, forcing Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer into a great save, before his misdirected volley set up Santiago Castro, who calmly finished past Sommer to give Bologna the lead inside 15 minutes. This ended Inter’s long league clean sheet run, which had lasted since early December. Inter quickly responded, with Denzel Dumfries scoring after a mistake from Bologna goalkeeper Łukasz Skorupski, who fumbled a shot from Federico Dimarco.

Inter, who had scored the most goals in the first half of the season, took control of the game, although Sommer made a brilliant save from a header by Jens Odgaard. Dimarco then played a key role again, assisting Lautaro Martínez, who scored a powerful shot into the net before the break.

After half-time, Bologna faced heavy pressure from Inter, with Skorupski keeping his side in the game with saves from Martínez and Dimarco. However, Bologna made a comeback just after the hour mark when Riccardo Orsolini made a clever pass to Emil Holm, whose shot deflected off Alessandro Bastoni and into the corner of the net, making it 2-2.

Bologna grew in confidence after the equaliser, but despite Dumfries causing problems on the right, neither team could find a winner. Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano was likely relieved to stop Inter’s run of six straight Serie A wins. The draw leaves Bologna without a victory in their last three league games, while Inter’s hopes of catching Napoli remain three points behind, though they still have a game in hand.
