Fiorentina extend unbeaten run with win over Bologna

Fiorentina extended their unbeaten run in Serie A to four matches after beating local rivals Bologna 2-1 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Fiorentina had a strong first half and scored twice, although they actually found the net three times. Cher Ndour’s goal was ruled out for offside, but Fiorentina soon took the lead when Rolando Mandragora finished well after a cross from Albert Guðmundsson.

Just before half-time, Fiorentina doubled their advantage in unusual fashion. A cross from Dodô caused confusion in the Bologna defence, and Roberto Piccoli eventually put the ball into his own net.

Fiorentina could have scored again when Fabiano Parisi hit the outside of the post, while Bologna struggled to create clear chances.

There were some nervous moments for Fiorentina in the second half. Bologna pushed forward late on, hitting the post through Jonathan Rowe before Giovanni Fabbian scored with a header to make it 2-1.

However, Fiorentina held on for the win, extending Bologna’s winless run to eight league matches. The three points also give Fiorentina fresh hope of moving away from the relegation zone.
