Dutch international Denzel Dumfries has committed his long-term future to Inter Milan, signing a three-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2028.
The deal, announced on Wednesday, solidifies Dumfries’ place as a key figure in Inter’s squad and underscores the Serie A champions’ confidence in the dynamic full-back.
Inter confirmed the extension in a brief statement, refraining from disclosing the financial details. However, Italian media reports suggest the 28-year-old has received a pay rise as part of the new agreement, with his annual salary increasing to €4 million (£3.45 million). This significant boost reflects his importance to the team and his consistent performances since arriving at the San Siro.
Dumfries joined Inter from PSV Eindhoven in 2021 and has since become a cornerstone of their defence. Over the past three years, he has made 147 appearances for the Nerazzurri, contributing 13 goals and numerous assists from his wing-back position. Known for his pace, power, and attacking intent, Dumfries has been instrumental in Inter’s success during his time at the club.
Last season, Dumfries played a pivotal role in Inter’s Serie A triumph, helping the team secure their 20th league title. He also contributed significantly to their domestic dominance, adding two Italian Cups to his growing list of honours. His ability to balance defensive duties with offensive contributions has made him a standout performer in Simone Inzaghi’s side.
This season, Dumfries has continued to shine, featuring in 15 matches across all competitions and finding the net twice. His performances have helped Inter maintain their position near the summit of Serie A, where they currently sit second, and lead their group in the Champions League.
Speaking about the new deal, Dumfries expressed his gratitude to the club and his desire to achieve more success in the years ahead. “Inter is my home,” he said. “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I’m excited for what’s to come. My focus is on helping the team win more trophies and giving everything for these incredible fans.”
The extension also signals Inter’s commitment to retaining their top talents amid interest from other clubs. Dumfries has been linked with moves to the Premier League in recent transfer windows, but this new contract is a clear indication that both the player and the club are aligned in their ambitions.
With Dumfries secured until 2028, Inter have ensured that one of their most reliable and impactful players remains a central figure as they pursue domestic and European glory in the years to come.
