Atalanta’s stand-off with Ademola Lookman appears far from resolved after the forward asked to train separately on his return from international duty with Nigeria. According to L’Eco di Bergamo, Lookman was at the club’s Zingonia base on Thursday and requested an individual session, reportedly for post-match recovery work.
Clarity is expected later on Friday when head coach Ivan Juric speaks before Sunday’s game against Lecce, following the team’s final training session. Should Lookman continue to work away from the group, it would suggest the summer rift has not yet healed.
Tensions have also been visible around the Gewiss Stadium, where messages reading “Lookman indegno” (“Lookman disgraceful”) appeared in recent hours. Sections of the Atalanta support have called for at least a public gesture of apology or reconciliation from the player in light of his conduct over the summer.
Lookman has, meanwhile, continued to avoid references to Atalanta on his social media profiles, an approach that has done little to ease the situation. As things stand, a full reintegration in time for the Lecce match looks unlikely.
