Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has joined Wolfsburg on a contract running to the summer of 2027 after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season.
The 33-year-old, capped 144 times by his country, made 107 appearances and scored eight goals across three seasons at Old Trafford, helping United win the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
Eriksen, who had been maintaining fitness with Malmö after becoming a free agent, chose the Bundesliga amid interest from elsewhere. This summer he received approaches including one from Wrexham and proposals from the Saudi Pro League before opting to restart his club career in Germany.
“Wolfsburg is my first club in the Bundesliga and I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I’m convinced we can achieve something together,” said Eriksen, who added that head coach Paul Simonis had outlined a clear plan for both the team and for his role. He also noted that several familiar Denmark team-mates in the Wolfsburg squad made the move particularly attractive.
The playmaker previously represented Ajax, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Brentford, and returned to top-level football after suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
