Sampdoria is returning the former coach, Italian Marco Giampaolo, who already coached them from 2016 to 2019, the football club announced.
Giampaolo will replace Roberto D’Aversa, who was fired on Monday, on the bench of Sampdoria.
Born in Switzerland, the Italian coach will lead the team until the end of the season.
Depending on the performance, there is a possibility of extending the cooperation for another two years.
This is Giampiolo’s second term on the Sampdoria bench.
He previously led the team from 2016 to 2019.
He then had an episode in Milan but was fired less than two months after the start of the season.
Until January last year, he led Torino and since then he has been without an engagement.
Sampdoria is currently in the 16th position in the Serie A table, with only four points above the relegation zone.
