Napoli were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Lazio on Thursday after Tijjani Noslin scored a hat-trick, giving the Serie A leaders a 3-1 win in the last 16 in Rome.
Lazio will play either Inter Milan or Udinese in the quarter-finals, thanks to Noslin’s three goals, which took his total for the season to five.
Inter, the league champions, will host Udinese at the San Siro in two weeks.
Noslin put Lazio in front with a header in the 32nd minute, and after Giovanni Simeone quickly equalised, Noslin regained the lead for Lazio with a clever dummy and finish, just before half-time.
He then sealed Lazio’s spot in the quarter-finals with another header four minutes into the second half from a perfect cross by Mattia Zaccagni, who had a penalty saved earlier in the first half.
Thursday’s match, featuring mostly second-choice players, served as a warm-up for Sunday’s Serie A match between the two teams in Naples, where Napoli will aim to maintain their narrow lead in the league.
Napoli are one point ahead of Atalanta and four points ahead of Inter, Fiorentina, and Lazio as they head into the weekend’s league games.
