FC Kaiserslautern, currently holding a training camp in Malta, invited former Malta captain Michael Mifsud to visit their training session at the Malta FA Training Grounds in Ta’ Qali today. Mifsud, Malta’s most capped player with 143 appearances, spent two and a half years at FC Kaiserslautern, then playing in the top tier of German football the Bundesliga, early in his career.
Mifsud received a warm welcome from the FC Kaiserslautern delegation, including club CEO Thomas Hengen and head coach Markus Anfang, both of whom know the former Malta forward from his time at the German club.
Known for their strong loyalty to the club, a large group of supporters, including families, have travelled to Malta to follow FC Kaiserslautern’s training camp.
Mifsud spent time with the fans, many of whom took the opportunity to have a photo with the former striker, who played for FC Kaiserslautern between 2001 and 2004. This year, the club is celebrating its 125th anniversary.
