Tottenham extend Son's contract until 2026

Tottenham have activated an option to extend Son Heung-min’s contract by another year, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.

The 32-year-old forward joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has scored 169 goals in 431 games for the club. He has also provided 125 goals and 68 assists in 320 Premier League appearances.

“Brilliant,” said Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou. “Son has had an outstanding career here and has played a big role over the last 10 years, making an impact both at the club and in the Premier League. It’s great to extend his stay.”

“The aim is to make sure he finishes his Tottenham career with some trophies,” he added.

Son was part of the Tottenham team that reached their first-ever Champions League final in 2019, though they lost to Liverpool. Despite his success, he has yet to win a trophy with the club.

This contract extension announcement comes ahead of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at home to Liverpool on Wednesday.

Spurs are currently 12th in the Premier League, with Son having scored five goals and provided six assists in 17 appearances this season.
