Kirkop United took a significant step toward securing their place in the National Amateur League 1 as they claimed a 4-1 victory over Marsaskala in a Play-Out encounter on Friday.
Marsaskala took the lead in the 39th minute through Jean Paul Dimech, but Andre Gomes leveled the score just before the break. Gomes struck again in the 79th minute to put Kirkop ahead before Neil Thomas Farrugia added a third four minutes later. Misael Tabone sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal.
Qormi Edge Pembroke in Five-Goal Thriller
In another Play-Out match, Qormi defeated Pembroke Athleta 3-2 in a closely contested battle. Kyle Sciberras Balbi opened the scoring for Pembroke on the half-hour mark, but Qormi responded with two quickfire goals in first-half stoppage time through Warren Azzopardi and Kane Paul Farrugia.
Cadu extended Qormi’s lead in the 76th minute, and although Weverton Gomes pulled one back for Pembroke in the closing moments, it wasn’t enough to deny Qormi all three points.
