Former football National Team players meet at Trophies Lounge

The Trophies Lounge on Saturday welcomed some of the former National Team players who in their time represented Malta with pride. This event was hugely successful and coincided with the latter stages of the festive season.

It also served as an opportunity for the former National Team players to reignite their spirit and interest in the beautiful game in Malta, as they carefully followed the enthralling top-of-the-table clash contested between Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana.

Despite the unpleasant weather conditions on Saturday afternoon, a good turnout of former National Team players turned up for the event at the Trophies Lounge. In attendance also Joe Cini the only former player still alive from the very first maiden match contested by the Malta National Team, a 3-2 setback at the Empire Stadium against Austria for Malta on the 24th of February, 1957.

Other former players in attendance for the event on Saturday at the Trophies Lounge included Anton Camilleri, Nardu Farrugia, Raymond ‘Mundu’ Vella, Silvio Vella, Michael Woods, Silvio Demanuele, Edward Herrera, Richard Buhagiar, Michael Woods, William Camenzuli, Stephen Wellman, Dennis Fenech, Jeffrey Chetcuti, Alan Zammit, Leli Fabri, Joe Galea, Roderick Bajada, Gilbert Agius, Paul Sixsmith, Nicky Saliba, Jimmy Briffa, Joe Zarb, Edwin Camilleri, Carlo Mamo, Jesmond Delia, Denis Cauchi, Nenad Veselji and Jonathan Magri Overend.
