Robert Lewandowski’s 26-minute hat-trick propelled La Liga leaders Barcelona to a decisive 3-0 victory at Alaves on Sunday, putting them three points ahead of Real Madrid.
The Polish striker reached 10 goals for the season in just nine league matches, further extending his lead as the top goalscorer. After Madrid’s win over Villarreal on Saturday, Barcelona responded strongly under new coach Hansi Flick, securing their eighth victory in nine matches.
From the outset, Barcelona dominated, with Lewandowski and in-form winger Raphinha playing pivotal roles. Raphinha had a goal disallowed for offside before assisting Lewandowski’s opener with a well-placed free-kick. He then crossed for Lewandowski’s second, which the striker finished with ease.

Lewandowski completed his hat-trick after receiving a pass from Eric Garcia, who had come on for the injured Ferran Torres. With 12 goals in 11 games across all competitions, Lewandowski appears in top form this season.
Alaves thought they had pulled one back before halftime through Toni Martinez, but it was disallowed for offside. Martinez later hit the post in the second half, while Sivera made key saves to deny Ansu Fati. Alaves had another goal ruled out for offside, with the hosts flagged offside 11 times, largely due to Barcelona’s high defensive line.
Later on Sunday, Atletico Madrid will face Real Sociedad, and Sevilla will host Real Betis in a local derby.
