Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has found a silver lining in Kevin de Bruyne’s frustration after substituting him.
The Belgian midfielder contributed as an assistant in his team’s lone goal, but was replaced by Mateo Kovacic in the 69th minute.
As De Bruyne exited the pitch, he exchanged words with the Spanish coach, a moment captured by the cameras.
“I’m glad to see that. I appreciate his passion; it’s a positive sign. He’s fired up now. I recognized what we were missing, which was maintaining possession,” remarked Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne’s assist for Stones marked his 11th in 12 games in 2024.
