Karim Benzema close to Ronaldo's record

French footballer Karim Benzema, who plays for Real Madrid, scored 9 goals in the knockout phase of the Champions League this season, one less than the record holder Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Frenchman scored two goals in last night’s game against Manchester City in the semifinals of the Champions League.

He scored his 14th goal in this season’s edition of the Champions League, and his 9th goal when it comes to only the knockout phase of this competition.

Ronaldo scored 10 goals in the knockout phase of the Champions League in the 2016/2017 season, thus setting a record.

Cristiano is also the record holder in terms of the total number of goals in one Champions League season (17), while Benzema has 14 goals this season.
