UEFA Sanctions Armenian Football Federation

UEFA has imposed sanctions on the Armenian Football Federation (AFF) following incidents during the Nations League match against the Faroe Islands on November 14.

The alleged incident saw Armenian fans displaying prohibited banners and using pyrotechnics during the game. Consequently, UEFA issued a €17,500 fine for the banners and an additional €20,000 penalty for the use of pyrotechnics.

As part of the sanctions, Armenia’s next home match will take place in a partially closed stadium, with 500 seats blocked off. The AFF has also been placed under a two-year probationary period for home matches.

The match, which ended in a 0-1 defeat for Armenia, led to these disciplinary actions due to breaches of UEFA’s regulations on fan behaviour.
