UEFA has given the green light to Inter Milan and AC Milan. According to a statement released by UEFA, both clubs adhered to the Financial Fair Play regulations for the 2023/24 season. In contrast, another Italian team, AS Roma, has been fined two million euros.
The First Chamber of the CFCB convened this week and finalised the assessment of clubs that participated in the 2023/24 season or were under an agreement during this period. The monitoring of 10 clubs under agreement during the 2023/24 season continued. Milan, Inter, Monaco, Marseille, PSG, Beşiktaş, Trabzonspor, and Antwerp were all found to have met the interim financial targets set for the 2023 financial year.
No club has breached the maximum threshold set by UEFA, although it specifically noted that two clubs, Aston Villa and Marseille, have been fined €60,000 and €20,000 respectively for the late submission of their financial information.
The situation differs for two other clubs. “Roma slightly exceeded the intermediate target set for the 2023 financial year and has been fined €2 million. Istanbul Başakşehir faces possible exclusion from the next UEFA club competition they qualify for, or alternatively, a restriction to 23 players on the A-list for the 2024/25 season, a fine of €100,000, or a cap on new players to be registered on the A-list for the 2024/25 season if they fail to comply with regulations.”
Clubs must adhere to the “Squad Cost,” which means they had to monitor the ratio between the amount spent on the squad and the coach versus their revenues in the past season. This ratio needed to be 90% or lower in 2023, 80% or below in 2024, and 70% or less in 2025.
