Seven players emerged victorious in their respective finals during the sixth qualification tournament for the World Championships set to take place in our country this coming November.
In a thrilling and closely contested final, Lydan Debono triumphed over Dejan Grech with a score of 10-9, marking his return to the national men’s team after several years.
Meanwhile, in the under-23 category final, Casdy Vella defeated Neil Caruana 9-6, and in the juniors’ final, Dielyn Edwards dominated Zveyden Tabone with a 9-3 victory.
Amanda Mifsud completely outplayed Maria Caruana, winning 8-0 in the women’s final. In the experienced players’ category, Dione Tedesco overcame Joseph Tabone 10-5 in the over-40s final, while Raymond Caruana secured a hard-fought 9-8 win against Conrad Catania in the Masters 50+ final.
Finally, Alfred Micallef emerged as the winner in the Grandmasters 60+ category with an 8-5 victory over Manuel Saliba.
