Pep Guardiola, the coach of Manchester City, said that the match against the “royal club” in the semifinals of the Champions League is an “incredible test” for his team.
“For us, the match against Real is an incredible test. But it would be the same to play against Bayern or Barcelona or any team that is a regular participant in this phase of the competition. Until a few years ago, we rarely reached this stage, and placing in the finals would be great for our future, “said Guardiola.
He also pointed out that special attention must be paid to one of Real’s best players, Karim Benzema.
“When we need to defend, we will defend, but we must also create chances to score,” Guardiola added.
“We want more than the semifinals. The fact that we are City does not guarantee anything. It is not realistic to always win. The reality is that football is a complicated sport. And if we don’t make it to the finals, I think we had a successful season in the Champions League,” said Guardiola.
“My work will never be finished. If we don’t make it to the finals, the club will consider it a failure and we will part ways in the end, I will continue. I will go to another place and try to start again. My life will not change whether we win or lose, ”said Guardiola.
Manchester City will meet Real Madrid at 9 pm in the first match of the Champions League semifinals.
