Tonight, an extraordinary meeting of the Juventus Board of Directors was held in Turin, where the entire management of this club submitted their resignations, including president Andrea Agnelli and sports director Pavel Nedved.
According to the first information, the extraordinary session was held because of the scandal that is rocking Italian football, after which the Italian prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into false financial reports.
All members of the Board of Directors also submitted their resignations at the extraordinary session: CEO Mauricio Arivabene and members of the Board Lawrence Debru, Massimo della Ragione, Catherine Fink, Daniela Marilungo, Francesco Roncaglio, Giorgio Takija, and Susan Kiwood.
The reason for the resignations is allegedly financial malfeasance in the period from 2018 to 2020, for which the Turin prosecutor’s office launched an investigation at the end of October, and which led to the club’s record-breaking performance for the 2021–2022 competitive season, i.e., a loss of 254.3 million euros.
This also means the end of the reign of the Agnelli family in Juvnetus. Andrea was the fourth representative of the famous Italian family, and he came to head the club in May 2010.
Juventus won the Italian championship nine times during that time period.
