Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo in January. The 25-year-old Ghanaian forward has a £65 million release clause, which is only active during the first 10 days of the January transfer window.
City have made progress in recent discussions and are now seen as the favourites to secure Semenyo’s signature. Other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea, also showed interest, but sources suggest Semenyo is likely to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola said he hopes the transfer talk does not affect Semenyo’s performances:
“Right now Antoine is our player and very committed. I don’t want to lose him, but the market is unpredictable.”
Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, will make his decision based on which club offers the best long-term project and trophies, as well as considering the impact on his family.
Manchester City see Semenyo as a key addition to their squad. His pace and direct attacking style on the right wing could give Guardiola’s team an extra edge as they chase the Premier League title. The club may also move players such as Savinho or Oscar Bobb to accommodate him.
